Other June Fun

June marked our one year anniversary of buying our first home and moving to North Salt Lake! Although we really love our friends and neighbors in NSL, there are some things we miss about our old neighborhood in Salt Lake City (it's confusing, but NSL is not just part of SLC...it is actually not even in the same county). A few places in SLC we miss enough that we drive down there pretty regularly to enjoy them. They include:

1. The $6 barber shop where the boys get their hair cut. 

2. Branbury Cross donuts (conveniently located next to the barber shop).

3. Sprouts grocery store

4. Liberty Park. It is the Salt Lake smaller equivalent of New York's Central Park. We like to make an afternoon of it there, riding bikes around the paved perimeter trail, feeding the ducks at the pond, and playing at one of the play grounds.

But life in North Salt Lake is good, even if we miss a few things about our old stompin' ground.

We went to see our first movie in the theater as a family this month. We all loved it! We watched Disney's Inside Out which was a sweet little movie. The following happened while we were there and Benjamin wrote about it on Facebook:

Saw Inside Out today with the family. It was Tommy's first full length movie theater experience. There was a sad part toward the end that had Miles weeping softly next to me.

M: [Through tears] Dad? I wanna go home.
B: Why buddy? What's wrong?
M: [Bursts into full sob] It's tooo sad!
B: It's OK, it will only be sad for a bit, and then it will end happily.
M: [Pretty loudly now] HOW CAN YOU KNOOOOW?!

Miles is so mischievous and at times it seems like he doesn't think much about others (probably typical for lots of eldest children that are only 4), but every now and then we get to see the sweet tender side that he is developing. We had a good talk about empathy and feelings after the movie.
