Other Early-Summer Happenings

Hanging out with Dad. Miles usually wants me if he wakes up in the night with a bad dream, but he'd rather hang out with Dad any other time!

Benjamin is encouraging Miles' love of gadgets and tools. They went to DI and bought some junk electronics that Miles had fun taking apart. I love his sweet little face in this picture. It reminds me of when he was a toddler.

Then there was the ward father/son camp out. Tommy howled from the driveway when Dad and Miles left (probably largely thanks to Miles going on and on talking about how fun it was going to be and how it was just going to be him and Dad). They had a lot of fun, but Benjamin realized he was the up-tight dad when all the other boys were winging flaming sticks around and Miles wasn't aloud to participate. Miles still had fun. He hasn't fully caught on to the fact that having an attorney father and nurse mother is going to hamper some of the "fun" he might otherwise have.

Playing with some of the other boys. (L to R) Miles, Charlie Rohde, Eli Stebbing, Nathaniel Rhode

Miles also made another attempt at playing soccer (on far left). There was less crying and more effort than last year, but still a lot of grass picking, wrestling teammates, and running around with his head in his shirt. And of course his favorite part was the snacks at the end...We are taking a break this fall from organized sports. Maybe next spring...
