Although you wouldn't know it from my lack of other blog posts, we did have a very nice September.
Here are a few highlights:
We went hiking. Both boys are very good little hikers. Tommy likes the backpack pretty well and Miles has surprisingly good endurance for a 4 year old. This particular hike was along the Bonneville Shoreline trail that connects North Salt Lake to Salt Lake City.
Miles had his first official day of preschool. His wonderful teacher Miss Sue lives just down the street from us and runs the preschool from her house so it's just a short walk for us. Miles is absolutely thriving in her class! I am amazed at how far he has come with letter and sound recognition and his writing has really taken off as well. As my parents always liked to say, he's smarter than the average bear! I also was pleased to hear from his teacher that although some of the kids in the class this year are struggling some to pay attention and listen, she said he is a very good listener and eager to participate. (Now if I could just get him to consistently listen to me...)
Tommy of course wants to be just like his brother so he insists on wearing a backpack as well when we walk Miles to school. It is darling how much he adores him.
We went to the State Fair with tickets provided by the Governor's office. The animals of course were the highlight of the trip. There was lots of "Orrs! Orrs!" (horse) and "Moo! Moo!" (what he calls cows) and excited pointing from Tommy.
Just around the corner from our house there are two new homes being built, so we have been regular spectators of the construction vehicles. More than once we have stopped to watch dump trucks, excavators, cranes, etc. hard at work. I doubt there are trucks in heaven, but these boys have both been fans of them since before they even knew the word "truck".
And of course we have been cooking. Always with the cooking. At least the company is good while I'm at it (good in theory, not always in practice).
