Independence Day 2015

We took the annual trip up to the cabin for the 4th of July. It's always a rather grueling 7-8 hour drive with the kids by the time we make a million stops. The boys are getting to be pretty descent travelers, overall (although the DVD player in the car admittedly helps a lot).

The drive between Salt Lake and Boise is pretty unexciting (think brown and barren), but we did pass this interesting sight: a trailer with the leg of a dead cow protruding out the top, waving in the breeze. At the time it seemed absolutely hilarious (although it smelled horrid) and at least helped break up the drive a bit.

Once we made it there we had a wonderful time as we always do. The boys were spoiled with lots of fun and attention from their aunts.  They were thrilled to have Aunt Amy take them for a dip in the river.

Darling cousin Eli with Aunt Amy.

The boys practicing their rowing skills. We took them rafting on the Main for the first time through the class II-III rapids. They loved it! They weren't scared at all and even jumped off the side of the boat to swim. I love how they eagerly try new things. We also all enjoyed tubing on the Middle Fork.

To top off the trip there was the usual home fireworks display. Miles still was wild with excitement over the fireworks. One of these years we'll take him to a real fireworks show, and he will probably lose his mind!
