Today Miles had surgery to have tubes put in his ears. He's had ear infection after ear infection for the past six months and so they finally sent us to the ENT doc who said he should get tubes. The surgery was amazingly fast (seriously took about 12 minutes total). Miles was so good before it, in spite of not being able to eat since 6:30 am (surgery happened at about 1:30). While waiting in the pre-op room he looked like he was about ready to take over for the nurse the way he was getting into everything and wheeling this cart around. (Sorry for the low quality of the pictures--they were taken with my phone and Miles wouldn't hold still long enough for it to focus).
What I didn't manage to get a picture of was the raging beast that awoke after surgery. I'm not sure if it was the anesthesia, hunger, or tiredness, but Miles howled angrily the whole time he was in the recovery room, the whole drive home, and for a half an hour after we got home when I finally got him to go to sleep. Poor lamb. Hopefully his problem with infections will be fixed and we won't have to be back to the doctor any time soon!

Oh my sweet babes...such a tough thing for you all. Tony had tubes in his ears at about the same age. Soon after the three of us went to California to visit Sandae who was living in Marin County at that time. When we returned, and Tony had his check up the Dr. said if he "hadn't put those tubes in himself he's say Tony had never had them". They had fallen out and there was no scarring at all. Tony never had another problem even. I chalk it up to the blessing he received before we left on our trip. (Just a little Onofrio history...And by the way, TMI follows...I was pregnant with Benjamin by the time we returned!) :) Glad to hear our little lad is doing ok LOVE, GramMO
ReplyDeleteWe HAVE to get together!!! Wish I knew this was happening! We had a really great ENT doctor for Summer(Dr. Bradley). Maybe he was yours too. Anyway, she got tubes and had her massive Adnoids removed. She was a terror for about 10 days after but has been so much better since. She also woke up so nasty from the surgery but we had been warned! It was so sad but eventually she came around. We will have to share stories! Sorry you had to go through that with poor Miles but most people say it is for the best! Summer had fluid in her ear at birth and I swear that it never cleared up until the tubes. Loves to you!!!!
